About The Speaker

Dr Aravind Srinivasan graduated in medicine from PSG Institute of Medical Sciences, Coimbatore in 1992 and completed his residency in ophthalmology leading to Masters in Ophthalmology from Aravind Eye Institute and Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology, Madurai in 1996. Having worked in the medical field, he had a passion for management. As a result, he did his MBA with specialization in strategy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA in the year 2000.

Abstract

After his MBA, he took over as the Administrator of Aravind Eye Care System and was instrumental in bringing changes to the various facets of the organization. Apart from administrating the institution in all respects, his field of interest includes performing phaco surgeries and taking care of the outpatients. He is involved in teaching eye health management courses leading to capacity building, training, research activities and research administrators. He has presented in numerous International Conferences about the “Aravind Model” of high volume, high quality, cost effective eye care. He is also a visiting faculty of Indian Institute of Management and Indian School of Business and Mentor for the MBA students of Wharton School of Business.

Lt Gen Subrata Saha (Retd)

About The Speaker

Lt Gen Subrata Saha is a Member of the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB). He retired as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff, where he was responsible for perspective planing, force modernization and procurement. Post retirement he was the Founding DG of the Society of Indian Defence Manufactures (SIDM).

His in-depth strategic insight is based on his experience as 15 Corps Commander in Kashmir 2014-15, Addl Director General Military Operations 2013-2014, command of a Division in Strike Corps, Counter Insurgency in Kashmir, Assam and Punjab, and Siachen Glacier in 1986. He served as Deputy Regional Commander United Nations Mission in Angola in 1996-97.

Abstract

As Dy Chief of Army, he adopted the strategy, “Win Indian Wars with Indian Solutions,” driven by a strong and unprecedented collaborative process involving the DRDO, academia, industry (including MSMEs) and the Army. He created the Army Design Bureau.

His academic record includes the rare DISTINGUISHED grading on Junior Command Course, Staff College Camberley (UK) and US Army War College. He was adjudged Best Overseas Student at Staff College Camberley and awarded the Gold Medal at Higher Command Course. His academic degree includes M Phil, two Masters degrees from India and USA and Diploma in Management. He is a distinguished fellow of the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies, with several publications in books, journals, weekly magazines and newspapers to his credit. He speaks regularly at the National Defence College, War Colleges, College of Defence Management, Staff College and events, seminars organized by think tanks.

He is a recipient of the Param Vishist Seva Medal, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal and Vishist Seva Medal twice.

About The Speaker

Ananth directs Research and Innovation at TCS, India’s largest IT Company. Under his leadership, TCS has created a significant portfolio of patents, papers and IP. He has architected a 4E model to make invention, innovation and co-innovation at TCS deliver value to TCS business and its customers.

Ananth has been a member of the TCS Corporate leadership since 1999, and has led several strategic initiatives. He has been a Principal Architect and Lead Consultant in the Architecture and Technology Consulting Practice, and earlier the head of the TCS Systems Management and the Systems Software Group.

Abstract

Ananth has served on several Governing Councils of Academia, Industry Advisory boards, and Government and Alumni committees. He has been a regular invitee to the Board of TCS since 1999.

He was elected a Fellow at the Indian Academy of Engineering (INAE) in recognition of his contributions to engineering in 2013. He was named a Distinguished Alumnus of IIT Delhi in 2009. He has been listed in Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders (2007), and in Infoworld’s Top 25 CTOs (2007).

He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a member of the Computer Society of India, as well as the Association of Computing Machinery. He has served as invited faculty in the Department of Management Studies at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Ananth is an MTech in Computer Science and has Masters degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Fergusson College, Pune.

Ananth is married, with two children and lives in Chennai, India. He has formally “retired” from a successful career in Trivia and Quizzing (which includes the ‘Brain of IIT’ individual title and two ‘Cranium Cup’ titles at IIT and several years on the IIT Quiz team), public speaking, crossword puzzle solving and cricket.
