Biological Sciences and Engineering
The department of Biological Sciences and Engineering at IITGN was started in 2012 with a Ph.D. program. The department currently hosts research activities which can be broadly classified into:
- Protein biochemistry and molecular biology
- Genomics and Epigenomics
- Functional analysis of genes
- Cancer Biology
- DNA nanotechnology and Stem Cell Engineering
- Protein misfolding and Neurodegenerative Disorders
- Microtubules, Molecular Motors, and Intracellular Transport system
- Neuroscience and movement disorders
- Macromolecular X-ray Crystallography
The research facilities, which are continously being upgraded, currently include:
- Molecular and Cellular Biology Laboratory
- Cell Culture Facility
- Proteomics and Peptide Synthesis Facility
- C. Elegans Laboratory
- Microbiology Laboratory
In order to meet current and future research and teaching requirements, the department of Biological Sciences and Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar seeks outstanding applicants from all areas of Biological Engineering to fill multiple positions at all levels.
