MTech - Coursework Track
IIT Gandhinagar invites applications from highly motivated students who would like to pursue non-research careers and seek stronger skills and knowledge, for admission to MTech - Coursework Track programme for the academic year 2024-2025 in the following disciplines:

The MTech (Coursework Track) Curriculum at IIT Gandhinagar has been designed to be highly creative with a focus on interdisciplinary skills. The programme allows the students to learn from a variety of courses offered by the parent department and through several interdisciplinary courses across departments.

Eligibility Criteria
Minimum of 55% marks/5.5 CGPA/CPI (on a 10 point scale) in BE/BTech/BS (4 year duration) /MSc or equivalent in appropriate branches (50% marks/5.0 CGPA/CPI for students from SC/ST/PwD categories).
GATE score is not required to apply for this program.
The eligibility criteria mentioned above is minimum and the disciplines may use higher cut-off levels for shortlisting. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD categories would be eligible for relaxations, as per norms, in the selection criteria.
The Institute has double degree programmes with several Institutions outside of India. In these programmes, the student spends part of the time (typically one year) at IIT Gandhinagar and other part in the Institution abroad. While the student is in IIT Gandhinagar, the applicable fees shall be that of IIT Gandhinagar. As per our agreements, reduced fees shall be applicable with Institutions outside India and shall need to be paid to that Institution. Students in MTech by Course Work shall be encouraged to take part in these double degree programmes. After the successful completion of the programme, degrees from each of the Institute shall be provided.
At present, the double degree programmes are being conducted with the following Institutes.
1. Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand
2. Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Ishikawa, Japan
Admission Procedures
Admission is generally offered on the basis of an interview, which is supplemented by a written test if necessary. The final selection will be mainly based on academic credentials, written test and/or interview.The reserved category candidates will be given due relaxation in cutoff marks as per the norms. The mode (offline/online) and dates for the written test (if any) and interview will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates by their respective departments. International applicants are welcomed to apply for this programme.
Application Procedures
All applications must be submitted online. On submission of the application form, the candidate will be redirected to the homepage of the portal, where they can download the form. The applicants are requested to download the form and keep a copy with them. A mail to the candidate regarding the details of the application and a link to download the application form is sent after the submission.
You need to furnish a hardcopy of the application form and all the documentary evidence (copies of testimonials, certificates, publications, work experience and research/professional experience) at the time of interview. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
You NEED NOT send the hard-copy of the application form.
Program Requirements
The Students will be required to earn at least 48 credits through coursework, at least 16 credits through project courses and 2 credits of postgraduate orientation programme Aarohan.
- ❑ A 4-credit Writing course
- ❑ In addition to this, at least 4 credits will have to be earned through Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) courses.
- ❑ Students must take at least 8 credits of electives inside or outside the discipline. The choice of elective courses will be the student’s discretion, but must be taken in consultation with the faculty advisor.
- ❑ Students must take at least 16 credits of courses specified by the discipline.
- ❑ Students joining the MTech programme (from semester – I, 2021-22 onwards) must complete two Physical Education (PE) courses, one each in their first two semesters, as part of their graduation requirements. These courses will be evaluated on a Pass/No Pass grade basis.
- ❑ Completing PG Orientation Programme Aarohan (2 Credits) is a mandatory graduation requirement for all MTech students. It is a two-week long programme that all the newly joined students are expected to successfully complete before they commence the first semester in their academic programme.
- ❑ Total minimum credit requirement is 82.
Fees
The normal duration of this course will be for two years.
