Archaeological Sciences Centre

In December 2012, IIT Gandhinagar (IITGN) set up an Archaeological Sciences Centre to promote and facilitate multidisciplinary research in archaeology and allied scientific disciplines. Several research projects are currently under way, such as:

  • Multidisciplinary investigations of the Harappan site of Dholavira
  • Palaeoclimatic investigations of northern Rajasthan through palaeobotanical remains from the Harappan site of Karanpura
  • Provenience Studies
  • Harappan Archaeology
  • Ancient Technology
  • Archaeobotany and Archaeozoology

IITGN invites applications from highly talented candidates for faculty positions in archaeology and allied disciplines. Experience in the scientific aspects of archaeology will be desirable. Selected candidates will be expected to show initiative in research and publication.

IITGN’s Archaeological Sciences Centre also invites highly talented scholars working in the discipline of history of science and technology, with a special focus on India, for faculty positions at all levels. Solid grounding in Sanskrit and in mathematics or science is desirable.
