Girish Kumar Sharma Scholarship has been instituted in the year 2024 by Mr Manish Sharma and Mrs Rashmi Sharma, and is open to male undergraduate (UG) students who have completed the third year and are entering the fourth year of their studies at IIT Gandhinagar.

Mr Manish Sharma serves on Accenture’s Global Management Committee as their Chief Operating Officer (North America) and has played a vital role in fostering gender equality in Accenture’s Operations. He founded the Accenture Rural program of ‘Impact Sourcing’, through which Accenture partners with small business process services firms and youth in rural areas in India. Mr. Manish Sharma has both a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Management from the University of Mumbai. Mrs Rashmi Sharma is a renowned academic expert currently involved with training new teachers for Montessori courses.

Girish Kumar Sharma Scholarship has been instituted by Mr Manish Sharma and Mrs Rashmi Sharma in honor of their parent, Prof Girish K Sharma. Prof Girish K Sharma is a Visiting Professor of Mechanical Engineering at IITGN. During his illustrious academic career spanning over 55 years, he was the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Bombay and served as the Chairman of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. The Girish Kumar Sharma scholarship of Rs. 1 lakh is awarded to the male undergraduate student with the highest CPI who has completed the third year and is entering the fourth year of their studies at IIT Gandhinagar, and whose annual parental income is between Rs. 5.00 Lakhs and 8.00 Lakhs. In case of a CPI tie among two male students, priority is given to the student whose parental income is lower.
