Research Park at IITGN
The newly-built Research Park at IITGN is much more than a physical space; dedicated to fostering innovation and stimulating research & development (R&D) collaborations among various stakeholders from academia and industry. Scientific advancement, entrepreneurship, and social impact are integral to research parks and implemented through models and frameworks to develop industrial R&D, research laboratories, and R&D centres of excellence. The IITGN Research Park facilitates the exchange of ideas and networking among institutes, universities, research laboratories, industries and entrepreneurs.
Central Instrumentation Facility
The Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) is one of the primary research facilities at the institute, established with the goal of providing advanced characterisation services and supporting the research activities of researchers on and off campus. The primary objective is to provide a central facility equipped with cutting-edge instruments to facilitate multidisciplinary research in various scientific domains, as well as to meet the needs of academic research institutes, universities, and industries.
Competitiveness Mindset Institute (CMI)
There is an urgent need for professionals in different fields to develop holistically to raise India’s competitiveness at a global level. CMI, a non-profit organisation, based in the USA, is attempting to make Indian professionals more competitive and create #ethical leaders. CMI has designed multiple curated training programmes for youth and adults in India. Their flagship programme, "Finding the Leader in You (FLY)", builds and enhances five, somewhat unusual, but key non-cognitive skills - conscientiousness, perseverance, taking initiative, innovativeness, and problem-solving - that their research identified as both crucial to competitiveness and most lacking among us. Their L.I.F.E (Learning, Introspection, Fellowship, and Engagement) framework helps participants more automatically practice learned skills at work and in life. The FLY programmes have become extremely popular for their uniqueness and effectiveness and have received more than 94% approval ratings from attendees! The first FLY programme was held for young adults at IITGN in August 2018.
PTreadX
Owing to the increasing worldwide health awareness and the prevalence of sedentary lifestyles, musculoskeletal disorders, and ageing, the global treadmill market is expected to witness an upsurge by 2030. Treadmill Workouts are an essential part of sports, gyms and gait training for those with movement disorders. However, often there are reports of unforeseen heart attacks, deaths, or sudden discontinuation from the exercise on treadmills at fitness clubs and sports centres. The individuals must be aware of their risk factors and have those addressed. The invention of a new treadmill exercise platform called PTreadX by Prof Uttama Lahiri and her team is a masterstroke towards making gaittraining risk-free.
