Rs 2 Lakh Awards for
Innovative Solutions for the Covid-19 Pandemic

The IIEC, IIT Gandhinagar is pleased to announce the Covid-19 Innovation Awards to encourage IITGN students, faculty, staff and alumni to develop rapidly deployable, creative and innovative solutions to address urgent technical, social, health or financial challenges caused by the Covid-19 crisis.

The awards are designed to encourage innovative solutions that address pressing challenges posed by Covid-19 to individuals and society. The solutions may be in the form of products, apps, or services that can be deployed speedily to solve current disruptions and problems caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The terms of the award are as follows:

⦿ The award is open to all members of the IITGN community, including students, faculty, staff and alumni.

⦿ The solution can be in any form: product, service, app, etc. The participating teams must identify and solve specific problems associated with the present Covid-19 crisis. The solution must be deployable quickly and logistically while the pandemic disruptions are underway.

⦿ Each team of faculty/students/staff/alumni that demonstrates a working prototype shall be eligible to receive Rs 2 lakh in cash award.

⦿ Up to five awards may be awarded under this scheme.

⦿ Teams may have non-IITGN members, but an IITGN student, staff, alumni or faculty must be the team leader, a majority of members of the team must be from IITGN and the prize money may not be shared with non-IITGN members.

⦿ The IIEC Innovation Awards Committee will review all submissions for their merit, value, practicality, and performance on a rolling basis once every month. The decision of the committee will be final. The committee may award up to five prizes, but may elect to award fewer prizes if not enough satisfactory submissions are received.

⦿ The IIEC will consider small grants for materials, tools and other expenses. It will also try to facilitate access to labs for product development wherever possible. Costs for personnel or travel will not be considered. Submit requests for such grants with a brief proposal describing the idea, its value, feasibility, timeline and budget to iiec@iitgn.ac.in

⦿ The IIEC is available to connect teams with mentors/ advisors and / or other experts to provide feedback and support upon request.

⦿ Entries will be accepted and prizes awarded on a rolling basis. The contest will close on August 1, 2020.
