Future Faculty Program

The gap in doctoral and postdoctoral training and expectations of a faculty position has been documented widely. Doctoral training is focused primarily on research and technical skills. However, faculty members are faced with challenges that require awareness of broader issues. The Future Faculty Program aims to develop students and postdoctoral fellows at IITGN into faculty who can make a mark as scientists and educators. The goal of this program is to instill confidence in our students and postdoctoral fellows, to provide a platform to discuss broader issues in training for an academic career, and to enhance their ability to compete in an increasingly challenging academic job market.

A workshop entitled “Navigating the Faculty Application Process” was conducted recently by Career Development Services IITGN to create awareness, highlight pitfalls, and to help participants find a suitable position.
