Chemistry
The department of Chemistry at IITGN was started in 2009 with a Ph.D. program and was expanded to offer a Master’s (M.Sc.) degree in 2013. The department currently hosts research activities which can be broadly classified into:
- Drug Discovery and Medicinal Chemistry
- Computational Chemistry
- Organic Photochemistry
- Synthetic Pigments
- Applied Biochemistry
- Asymmetric Catalysis
- Material Catalysis
- Molecular Electrocatalysis
- Plasmonics
The research facilities, which are continously being upgraded, currently include:
- Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)
- High Resolution Mass Spectrometer (HRMS)
- Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization (MALDI) Mass Spectrometer
- Single Crystal X-Ray Diffractometer
- Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM)
- High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
- UV-Vis Spectrometer
- Fluorescence Lifetime Spectrometer
- Isothermal Titration Calorimetry
- Cyclic Voltammetry
We also expect to get Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometer (LCMS) in the future.
In order to meet current and future research and teaching requirements, the department of Chemistry at IIT Gandhinagar seeks outstanding applicants from all areas of Chemistry to fill multiple positions at all levels.
