Visiting Students Research Engagement Programme


Applications are invited for the newly launched Visiting Students Research Engagement Programme of IIT Gandhinagar for Semester I of AY 2026-27. The programme enables select final year students from IITs/IISERs/IISc and NITs to pursue semester-long internship at IIT Gandhinagar in the form of a research project, working along with IIT Gandhinagar faculty.

Salient Features

  • ❑ Selected students can spend a semester at IIT Gandhinagar working on a research project with IIT Gandhinagar faculty members.
  • ❑ The students will be considered visiting students at IIT Gandhinagar and must register for Research Engagement credits at IIT Gandhinagar.
  • ❑ Research Engagement credits can be earned in 4-credit modules (IN 497 - Research Engagement), with a student permitted to earn a maximum of 4 credits in one quad and a maximum of 16 credits of IN 497 during their stay at IIT Gandhinagar [A semester is divided into 4 quads].
  • ❑ IN 497 will be graded using the usual letter grades by the host department at IIT Gandhinagar at the end of each quad.

  • Eligibility Criteria

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Final-year students in the BTech (4-year programme) / BS (4-year programme) / Integrated Master of Science (5-year programmes) from IITs/IISc
    • OR
    • Final-year students in the BTech (4-year programme) / BS (4-year programme) / BS-MS (5-year programme) from NITs/IISERs
    • AND
    • Having more than 8.0 CPI/CGPA at the end of their pre-final year are eligible to apply.
  • Financial Support

    Financial Support

    Students will be provided a stipend of Rs. 5000/- for every quad for which they have secured a grade of B or above in IN 497.

  • Fees

    1. Students selected for the Visiting Students Research Engagement Programme need NOT pay any tuition fees at IIT Gandhinagar for the registration in IN 497 (Research Engagement) during their stay.
    2. Hostel and mess fees are applicable and need to be paid by the student.
