Sanjiv Puri is the Chairman & MD of ITC Ltd, a leading Indian conglomerate with businesses in FMCG, Hotels, Paperboards & Packaging, Agri Business and IT. He is also the Chairman of ITC Hotels Limited, ITC Infotech India Ltd, its subsidiaries in UK and USA and Surya Nepal Private Ltd. Puri is an alumnus of IIT, Kanpur, and Wharton School of Business.

Spearheading the ‘ITC Next’ vision, Puri has driven an extensive strategy reset to build a future-tech, climate positive, innovative and inclusive enterprise with sharp thrust on agility, consumer centricity and inspired talent. He has led the digital transformation of ITC, driving competitiveness of ITC’s businesses and exploring new tech-driven opportunities. Puri has also powered an ambitious Sustainability 2.0 vision that addresses key issues such as climate change, circular economy and inclusive growth.

Puri is the immediate Past President of CII. He was the Chairman of the Expert Group on agri-exports constituted by the 15th Finance Commission, a Member of the NITI Aayog Group on 'Farm to Table-driving India's agriculture sector digitally’ and the Chairman of the ‘Action Council on ESG in Business’ under the aegis of Business 20 India. He is on the Board of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum and a Member of the BRICS Business Council. Puri is the Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT, Gandhinagar and on the Governing and Executive Board of Indian School of Business. He is also on the Governing Body of the National Council of Applied Economic Research.

Puri was conferred with the ‘Distinguished Alumnus Award of the year 2018’ by the IIT, Kanpur. In 2025 he was presented the AIMA – JRD TATA Corporate Leadership Award’by the All India Management Association (AIMA), and the prestigious Sir Jahangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace by XLRI, Jamshedpur. He was presented the ‘Best CEO’ Award by Business Today, recognised as the “Best CEO” in the ‘Diversified Conglomerate’ category by Fortune India and honoured with the ‘Business Leader of the Year Award’ by AIMA in 2024. He also received the Transformational Leader Award 2022-23 from the Asia Centre for Corporate Governance and Sustainability. Puri was bestowed with an Honorary Doctorate by the XIM University, Bhubaneshwar, and presented the ‘IMPACT Person of the Year, 2020’ Award by exchange4media, a digital news platform.
