Earth Sciences
The department of Earth Sciences at IITGN was started in 2013 with a Ph.D. program followed by M.Tech program in Earth System Science. The department currently hosts research activities which can be broadly classified into:
- Earth Surface Processes
- River Science
- Hydrogeochemical Processes
- Contaminant Transport
- Seismology
- Seismic Hazard Analysis
- Tectonic Geomorphology
- Water and Soil Pollution
- Remote Sensing
- Hydrology
- Rock mechanics
The research facilities, which are continuously being upgraded, currently include:
- Cosmic Radiology Lab
- Geochemistry Lab
- Water Environment Technology Lab
- Remote Sensing and GIS Lab
- Survey Lab
- Sediment Lab
- Rock testing (Engineering properties) Lab
- Hydrology Lab
- High Performance Computing Facility
In order to meet current and future research and teaching requirements, the department of Earth Sciences at IIT Gandhinagar seeks outstanding applicants from all areas of Earth Sciences to fill multiple positions at all levels.
