Using Library Resources & Services During COVID-19
IITGN Library continues to provide access to library resources and offer services to support teaching, learning and research both physically and virtually in this challenging time. Here is the relevant information as to how the library continues to keep connected with the user community and assist in using the resources virtually.
You are invited to visit the Library website for a detailed information and search the online catalogue from any location.
With effect from 24th October 2021, the revised Library opening days & hours will be as follows:
• Monday to Friday (including Saturdays, Sundays & Institute Holidays): 9:00 am to 12.00 midnight
• Issue & Return of books through Self Check-In Check-Out Kiosk will be available from 9.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.
Access to Library Space & Facilities
Currently due to the pandemic scare, users have limited access to the physical facilities of the library.
Users are allowed to have access to the book stack area and use the Library reading hall. However, the number of users at a given point of time is restricted to not more than 25. Other facilities will be reopened as and when the overall situation improves and looking into the safety and security of everyone concerned.
Guidelines for using the Library
Its mandatory for users to follow the guidelines given here, if they would like to physically visit the library.
Issue and Return of Reading Materials
Due date for all types of reading materials issued to all categories of members has been further extended till 17th May 2021. It will be notified again, if further changes in due dates are made and the mode of how and when to return the borrowed materials. Until then, it is requested to use these materials and keep them safe with yourselves.
Access to E-Resources
Library e-resources viz e-journals, e-databases, e-books are accessible 24/7 on campus and off campus. To access these resources from outside the campus (remotely), please connect through off campus access details given here.
Research Resources on COVID 19
Library has put together a list of major resources relating to COVID-19 which are freely accessible from anywhere. The updated list is available here.
Access to Print Materials
Books: Access to print materials at this point is restricted. However, if you are on the campus and would like to borrow some of the books from the library collection, please use the library online catalogue to search for the book you require and email us the details of the book/s, so that we keep them ready for your borrowing. If you are presently off the campus, please let us know if you need a copy of the specific chapter from a book that is available in the library, we will scan & email it to you for your personal use.
The list of Journals, Magazines & Newspapers subscribed by the library is available here. Many of them are now available in electronic form for access. Do try to use them.
Suggestions for Acquisition of new books
Please continue to recommend new books required for your teaching, learning & research, over the email at email@example.com We will check and process for procuring.
Using Course Reading Materials
The list of books recommended as ‘Course Readings’ for entire semester and remaining part of the semester are available here. Effort is being made to make some of these available in electronic form wherever available and feasible. You are welcome to request for a scanned copy of a chapter or two from the book available in the library collection.
Availing Library Reference & Information Services
Library is continuing to provide Inter Library Loan of Books, Documents Delivery Services ( article delivery), Plagiarism check, Grammarly services. Please send your requests for availing these services at firstname.lastname@example.org
Library Research Help
Library team is available for supporting you in your literature search, using reference management software, citing references, plagiarism check or any other assistance you may require. Please contact us on email@example.com
Thesis & Dissertation submission
Your final and approved, signed version in pdf format of Master’s or Doctoral Thesis along with recording of the defense may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org with a copy to all concerned or as advised.
