Student Checklist



Congratulations to the 2015 graduating batch. We are proud of your achievements!

This is one of the most memorable days of your life. In order to make sure everything goes smoothly, please make sure you follow these guidelines:

Before the Ceremony:

  1. Complete all formalities: Please be sure that you have satisfied all the formalities and obtained all the necessary clearances. Please also RSVP to the invitation that you will receive.
  2. Obtain the convocation attire: You will receive instructions for doing so once you confirm your participation. Please ensure that all pieces of your attire are in proper shape before the convocation day.
  3. Inform family and/or friends about the event: The convocation is a very formal and solemn affair. Kindly inform your family and/or friends visiting about the nature of the event.
  4. Arrange for accommodation: Due to increase in number of academic programmes in the institute, it has become increasingly difficult to guarantee accommodation in the student hostels. Please make arrangements in advance.
  5. Follow the restrictions: Parking restrictions will be enforced very strictly. Please make sure you abide by them.
  6. Please note that only one guest per student will be accommodated in the main ceremony hall. You need to collect the ticket for entering the main ceremony hall along with the convocation dress. Other guests will be accommodated in nearby rooms with live streaming video. In case logistics permit, we will make effort to accommodate 2 guests per student. However, this can be confirmed only at the time of dress collection.
  7. The total charges need to be paid
    • cost of convocation photograph: Rs 200
    • cost of Kurta/Pajama/Chappal: Rs 1000/790/380
    • cost of cleaning gown: Rs 100

On Convocation Day:

  1. Arrive on time: The institute values and respects punctuality as part of its core ethos. Please arrive on time for the event. You are formally expected to be seated in the convocation hall by 10:30 a.m.
  2. Continuing the tradition: Each of you is an asset to the institute. The number of graduating students may appear large and may only increase each year. The appreciation for each degree granted in procession will also keep increasing, in keeping with the tradition initiated in the first convocation. 
  3. Photographs and tours: This is your day. Once the formal ceremony ends, please feel free to make best use of your time by of taking pictures of your friends and batchmates or by giving a tour of the campus with your family and friends. Show them the institute that you have helped shape!
  4. Returning the robe: Please note that the robes are rented. If you wish you may keep them by paying the appropriate price. Kindly return them in the same condition if you are not interested in purchasing.
  5. Share your experience: Share your experience on social media (Twitter #iitgn). Send us (convocation@iitgn.ac.in) links to the pictures that you have taken so that we can showcase them.
